SAVE THE DATE: Symphony By the Sea: "Sketches of Spain"

  • Cabot Theater 286 Cabot Street Beverly, MA, 01915 United States (map)

Join fellow Cornellians for a Sunday afternoon performance of "Sketches of Spain" at the beautiful Cabot Theater in Beverly, MA. The Concierto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo is perhaps the most played and beloved of all guitar concerti. A version by Miles Davis and Gil Evans made its iconic second movement even more popular. This performance will feature the original version along with music by Falla, Turina and Arriaga that explores the intensity, lyricism and colors of the Spanish landscape.

Symphony by the Sea is the premier professional orchestra north of Boston. Established in 1981 by the late Royston Nash, former Music Director of London’s D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, it provided a group of talented professional musicians a local alternative to community orchestras. Built in 1920 as an 800-seat theater in the grand style of 1920's movie palaces, the Cabot Theater combines classic design with contemporary sound, HVAC, seating and other amenities.

On entering the theater, please sign in at the Cornell table on your right. General seating. No reserved seats.

Before the concert, optional lunch together at a nearby restaurant overlooking Beverly Harbor. Upscale setting. $20 for all you can eat brunch buffet served by our waiter.
