Join other Cornellians for a 2 hour volunteer shift at the Cradles to Crayons Giving Factory in Brighton. Cradles to Crayons provides children (up to age 12), living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. While not required, please consider bringing an item or two for donation. Gently used books and clothing, especially jackets, pajamas, and shoes, plus new toiletries or diapers are always in short supply. The Giving Factory is located in a warehouse, so dress accordingly.

How to Prepare for the Event
As volunteers, we'll work in stations to inspect, sort and package donations alongside other individuals and groups. Our volunteer shift will begin with an orientation led by a Cradles to Crayons staff member and end with a wrap-up and an opportunity to learn the number of children we impacted during our shift.
What to wear:
The Giving Factory is a warehouse environment and it is not climate-controlled. Volunteers are encouraged to wear closed-toed shoes and layered clothing they do not mind getting dirty.
What to bring:
Please spread the word about our upcoming event and encourage friends and family to donate gently-used items that you can bring to your volunteer shift. In addition to gently-used items for children aged 0-12, Cradles is in critical need of items for children aged 0-3:
Convertable car seats
Pack and Plays
Travel systems (stroller and car seat combination)
Safety items like outlet covers and doorknobs covers
Newborn diapers
Hygiene Items like diapers wipes, baby nail clippers, baby lotion and body wash
Baby board books

The Giving Factory is located at 155 North Beacon St., Brighton, MA, 02135. On-street parking is available on North Beacon Street and Etna Street. (Please do not park in the New Balance parking garage or in spaces designated for CORT Furniture.) Cradles to Crayons apologizes for any inconvenience as construction around their building continues.
